To Do Machine lets you build systems — layouts, themes, and components — and share them with other people. Shared systems run inside other people's apps, so what you publish has to be safe for them. This policy applies once the Sharing Features are available in the Service.
This policy explains what you can and can't publish, what we do when something breaks the rules, and how to appeal if we get it wrong. It's part of our Terms of Service.
It applies to everything you publish: the code and configuration in your system, its name and description, your public display name, and anything visible on its share page.
A note on what this policy is not. We run automated checks on every published system. Those checks catch obvious problems, not clever ones. A system that passed our checks has not been verified as safe. Install things from people you have reason to trust, and look at the source — it's viewable on every share page.
This is a checklist app, so this category needs to be specific.

How we decide. The question we ask is whether the system pushes someone toward harm or supports them away from it. A meal tracker is fine; a meal tracker that congratulates you for eating less is not. When it's genuinely ambiguous, we'll usually warn first and talk to you.

If you believe something on To Do Machine infringes your copyright, see our Copyright and DMCA Policy — that's a separate, formal process with its own requirements. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

Not allowed, ever, with no warning step:
We remove this immediately, terminate the account, preserve evidence, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement as required by law.

We use three levels. Which one we use depends on how serious the problem is, whether it looks deliberate, and how many people are affected.
Warning. The system keeps working for people who already installed it, and we show them a notice. New installs are turned off. You can fix the problem and republish.
Quarantine. The system stops running for everyone who installed it, and it's removed from public view. This is reversible — if you fix the problem or successfully appeal, we turn it back on.
Revocation. The system is permanently disabled everywhere, including on the devices of people who already installed it. We use this for malicious code, phishing, illegal content, and repeat or deliberate violations.
Accounts. Serious or repeated violations can also mean losing access to publishing, or losing your account. We terminate accounts for repeat copyright infringement, for content that endangers children, and for deliberate attempts to harm other users.
If we disable or revoke a system, it stops working on the devices of everyone who installed it, and they see an explanation. Where a safe earlier version exists, we point people to that instead of just breaking things. Anything you built or changed yourself stays yours — we don't delete an installer's own edits.
Content that endangers children, active phishing, code that's stealing data, and content we're legally required to remove get acted on immediately, without a warning step. We'll tell you afterward.
Anyone can report a shared system. Reports go to a human. A report never automatically disables anything — that would make the report button a weapon. We look at reports in order of how serious they appear, and every removal is a person's decision.
A shared system that breaks this policy: use the report control on its share page, or in the app on a system you've installed. Or email support@todomachine.com with a link and a short description of the problem.
Copyright infringement: use the formal process in our Copyright and DMCA Policy.
Illegal content, if you're in the European Union: email support@todomachine.com — we'll confirm receipt, tell you what we decided, and tell you how to challenge it. See Section 20 of our Terms of Service.
Something that endangers a child: email support@todomachine.com with "URGENT" in the subject. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
We can't always tell you what we did about a specific report, but we do read all of them.
If we take action against something you published, we'll tell you what we did and why.
To appeal, email support@todomachine.com with the system's link and why you think we got it wrong. A person will review it, and it won't be the automated system that flagged you. If we were wrong, we'll restore it and say so.
If you're in the European Union, you have additional rights described in Section 20 of our Terms of Service, including the right to complain to a competent authority in your country and to go to court. Nothing here limits those rights.
We'll update this policy as the sharing features grow and as we learn what actually goes wrong. When we make significant changes, we'll say so in the app. The date at the top shows the last update.
